Palm webOS brings together the most important information from your phone, at work or on the Web, into one logical view. In addition to linking information from Google, Facebook, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and LinkedIn, Palm Pixi adds Yahoo! integration to Palm Synergy, which offers: And a new Facebook application is available with Palm Pixi, enabling you to see and comment on all the latest news from friends and easily update their status.

The phone's full QWERTY keyboard puts it all at your fingertips, and the multi-touch screen lets you move back and forth between open applications using natural gestures. The unique removable back cover is rubberized, making it scratch-resistant, slip-resistant and durable.

You'll enjoy GPS navigation capabilities for accessing the optional Sprint Navigation turn-by-turn direction service as well as access to Sprint TV's video-on-demand with full-motion video and vivid sound. Other features include 8 GB of internal memory, 2-megapixel camera/camcorder, digital audio player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free devices and stereo music streaming, access to personal and corporate e-mail, and up to 5 hours of talk time.

     do pros overweigh cons?, 2010-05-26
This phone was $24.99, so much of my review will be based on that super low price. If I had paid $100.00 or more, this might be a different story. I've had this phone for about 5 months now so I'm pretty familiar with it.

Ok, first, the good features: It has a full QWERTY keyboard. It has a very responsive touch screen - the screen is bright, clear and very easy to see. It's also simple to navigate (once you figure out how, initially). The phone multi-tasks. You can have any song from your iTunes for free as a ringtone or alarm or other alert (as opposed to the iPhone charging $0.99 every time you use a song). The calendar syncs well. The camera is really good, as is the video recorder. Messaging is easy and convenient. Emails and alerts are prompt and obvious upon receipt but can also be easily hidden if desired. The internet is easy. The speaker phone and other sounds are usually nice and loud when you turn the volume up. The navigation system is actually extremely helpful and accurate!

The not-so-good: It takes a while to re-boot. There are really annoying "apps" on there, like NASCAR and other stuff that I will never look at, but you can't delete them. Really, you can't. If you find a way, please let me know!!! The multi-tasking is often bug-y, meaning that it will sometimes tell you to close extra "cards", which are essentially "Windows", beecause the phone is overloaded, even if there are none open. The outside of the phone which looks like a case, starts slowly peeling off of the phone in spots. It's VERY annoying. I got my first replacement 2 months after I purchased the phone and I do take good care of it. The peeling (on mine, at least) begins on the top of the phone where the on/off/lock/unlock button is, which makes it very difficult to actually press that button. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's more frustrating than you might think, and that leads me to my next complaint. The only way to lock the phone and then turn it from a black screen to a visible screen (to my knowledge) is that tiny on/off button on the top, which is very inconvenient and actually pretty odd. I'm on my second cover (they just popped out the back and replaced it at the store) which, after a week or so, began to peel again - at the on/off switch, by the volume controls, and by the charger door - it's acually sort of broken there. It broke so bad the last time that it wouldn't even close anymore. Just stuck out permanently. I'm about to get my second replacement. I asked them if they'd just give me a different phone because I didn't want to have to come in and replace the phone every few months until my renewal was up. They said no.

So, those complaints aside, at $24.99 I suppose it's a good phone. I don't know if I'd get it again, but there are some features that make me really like it. The "case" feature of the phone is poorly made and there are some bugs but I've had much worse phones. If you are looking for a touch screen, a full QWERTY keyboard, a compact device, a good camera, fast internet, good call quality, and can put the weird bugs and sub-par phone "case" construction aside, you probably will enjoy this phone. If you don't care about a touch screen or a QWERTY, there are other really great phones out there, and don't bother with this one.
I'm really glad I got this phone!, 2010-05-25
My sprint contract was up and I was debating between the Palm Pixi or the Blackberry Curve 8530. The Palm Pixi was so much more appealing to me. I love the size, the touchscreen, the free apps (I've downloaded almost 30 and counting!), the keyboard (it looks small but is actually really nice and easy to type on), and the clear and vibrant screen. The only downside is the battery life but this is a smartphone so that is to be expected. Right now I have the green touchstone back cover and plan to get the wireless charger, so that will definitely help out a lot. The green touchstone back cover gives my phone a certain character which makes me love my phone even more. The multi-tasking feature is Fantastic!

My sisters opted to get the Blackberry Curve and they love it but it wasn't for me.I say to each his own but they always like to play with my phone...

My Dad also got the Palm Pixi which shocked me because to put it nicely, he's not on the up and up when it comes to things like this. For about a week after he received the phone we was so frustrated because he didn't know how to do the different gestures, how to open his e-mail or even how to place a call. I had to sit down with him and show him how to use the phone and now he is loving it. Some might think that the phone is way to small for a man with big hands but my dad uses it with ease.
     2 thumbs up, 2010-05-20
The Palm Pixi is great little phone but IF you live on your phone
and basically need a computer in your pocket. ~THEN STOP READING~
this isn't the Iphone or droid

The Pixi works best with people who occasionally enjoy toying with
their phones when they are bored in a waiting room or in the car (not driving)
don't get me wrong the phone has many apps and functions that
your average phone can't touch. I enjoyed it a lot. Many reviews
knock it for the so called "lag" when you have multiple apps open
3-5 seconds isn't terrible. or people complain about the screen size
come on it's a phone IF you need a TV in your pocket then get a
Iphone or droid. The Pixi's screen is great very clear

The only problem is the battery life but then again I haven't put it down (which doesn't help)
But there are a couple of functions you can turn off and dim to help

PROS: many apps, great functions, touch screen, size, keypad
    webOS,

CON: battery life (but not bad)

    update:
I download preware and download a lot of patches for the phone (made it my own style)
also added uber kerels and a Govnah app
then set the compcache to performance
    min freq 122.8 MHz
    max freq 600MHz
    compcache 24mb

now the my Pixi is faster then ever without WiFi

Out of love with this Palm, 2010-05-05
Let me start this review off by saying, I am a Palm fan. I loved my Treo 755p with gusto for over two years. So when it finally went belly up and two replacement phones from Sprint did the same after 1 month - I figured it was time to upgrade to bigger (Smaller?) and better things. Boy, was I wrong!

Initially, I felt like the Pixi was almost *too* small. It was hard to type on, and my text messages looked more like a 2 year old smacking the keyboard than an intelligent 20-something trying to send a message. Nonetheless, I carried on - confident that I'd come to be just as proficient on this phone as I was on my last.

It never clicked. After 8 months of this phone, I admit defeat. I am not impressed with the quality, speed, or features of this phone. I'd take my brick-like 755p back any day.

The Good: It's tiny. Elf-like as a matter of fact. The colors on the screen are vibrant and I like the ease with which it synced with my gmail and my google calendars. I also love the quality of the photos and the built-in flash that my last phone didn't have.

The Bad: Ringer volume and actual speaking volume should never be the same. I can't tell you how many times I've turned up the volume on this thing to hear someone on a phone call and then nearly been deafened the next morning when my alarm went off because the volume was now set to super-insanely-loud because I changed the speaker volume. That feature is awful. Next up - durability. I admittedly nose-dived this phone once - on CARPET. It has a huge scratch on the screen, some interestingly gel-like piece fell off the top of it this morning and the final indignity - a plastic piece around the charger area came out, resulting in a lovely bulge on the side of the phone. Finally, the speed. After a great "update" from Sprint - this thing is slower than a snail in taffy. It takes a good 10 seconds for any feature to open up - calendar, text messaging, photos - you name it.

In closing, I hate this thing. Hate it so much in fact that I'm purchasing a blackberry just to get away from it until my contract is up and Sprint has another phone that I want - or I go screaming to AT&T in search of greener pastures. Buyer beware on this one!
     A very smart phone, 2010-04-10
I have an ipod touch at home that I use daily and extensively. And My wife has an HTC Hero with Android.
And since I received this Palm Pixi with WebOS, I got completely addicted to its amazing simplicity.
True you are limited in terms of applications, but you the most useful ones are available for free.
And what you get, is everyday a phone with the greatest ergonomics.
I love the calendar sync option that works very well. The installation was simple. The packaging was amazing. The phone design is very successful around me.
Having this phone now in a market dominated by apple and google gives the same feeling as with my mcbook 10 years ago: You are in the margin, but you have the satisfaction to get the smartest product and in a meeting, you are the only one without an iphone or a blackberry.
